The full City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar has today approved this regulation that aims to recognize people and institutions because of their merits or exceptional actions in different areas.
The Plenary Session of San Pedro del Pinatar has approved in its June session a new regulation of Honors and Distinctions in the area of ​​the town that replaces the previously existing, approved in 1958.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, explained that this new rule, developed by the municipal Secretariat, aims to replace the obsolete previous regulation, while having a local instrument with which you can recognize people or entities for its merits and exceptional actions, which provoke an exaltation of human values.
In addition, explained that this document has been subjected to a prior process of Citizen Participation, which has collected suggestions from associations and municipal groups.
The new document regulates the honorary distinctions, the procedure for the granting of the same, the merits that are valued, the inherent rights to said distinctions and the manner in which they will be imposed and registered.
Thus, in this regulation the following honors are regulated: medal of the Villa, heraldic shield of the Villa, title of favorite son, title of Adoptive Son, Official Chronicler of the Villa, dedication of streets, squares or buildings;
twinning with other cities, and town hawkers.
The regulation has been approved with the votes in favor of the Popular group and the non-attached councilor, and the abstention of the groups Win San Pedro, Ciudadanos and PSOE.
