Plenary appreciates the work of the Security and Emergency forces during the floods (12/01/2017)

The Plenary of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar has approved a motion signed by all political groups in which it also expresses its support to those affected and urges the Central Government to expedite the aid to alleviate the effects of the storm in the locality.

All the political groups of the Municipal Corporation of San Pedro del Pinatar have approved in the plenary session of January a motion on the floods that occurred in December.

The motion indicates that the weekend of 17 and 18 December 2016 San Pedro del Pinatar was affected by a strong rain and wind storm that ravaged the Region and left 227 liters per square meter in the town.

Therefore, the Corporation in full expresses its gratitude to all the forces and personnel of security and emergencies that acted in the municipality and the Mar Menor region, avoiding worse consequences.

In addition, it expresses its support to those affected by the material damages suffered in the municipality and conveys its condolences and solidarity to the relatives of the mortal victims of Los Alcázares, as well as the support to the town of San Javier, who suffered in a special way the Floods.

The City Council urges the central government to expedite the aid established to alleviate the effects of the recent floods, as well as the recovery by the victims.

The Commonwealth of Channels of Taibilla will also be asked to waive water billing to the municipality on the days when it was not fit for consumption.

The Mayoress, Visitation Martínez, thanked especially the work of the municipal staff and recalled that the Civil Protection and Local Police services coordinated a wide device throughout the municipality, according to the local flood plan, approved in 2015 activating the phases Of pre-emergence and Emergency Level I throughout the weekend.

Thus, a team of 30 municipal staff handled a total of 170 incidents due to wind and rain that affected street furniture, roads, fallen trees, street lighting, beaches and promenades.

MOTION ON GENDER VIOLENCE

The Plenary of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar also approved a joint motion of all groups in which it urges the TSJ of the Region of Murcia and the Ministry of Justice as well as the General Council of the Judiciary to maintain the Court of the Judicial Party Of San Javier that presently assumes the competences in attention of Violence of Gender.
