Outstanding Pinatar women, an entrepreneur and the salinero collective give names to new streets and parks in Los Sáez (14/09/2017)

The new partial plan includes the Park of Los Salineros, with a monument in tribute to this group, Carmen Llorens Park and Lucrecia Egea, Ramona Martinez, Pilar de la Osa, Dolores Albaladejo, Diego Albaladejo and 8 de Marzo streets.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, today presided over the act of naming streets of the new partial plan of Los Sáez.

The City Council unanimously approved the denomination of these six streets and two parks, in which the names of people and groups have been prioritized that have played a prominent role in the municipality and especially in the area of ​​Los Sáez and Las Beatas .

In the majority of cases, women have been chosen to play a fundamental role in the history of the municipality, in order to correct, as far as possible, the current inequality in terms of social recognition, official and public of women.

Thus, one of the parks is named Carmen Llorens Ahuir, born in Valencia in 1932 and died in 2015 in San Pedro del Pinatar, named adopted daughter of the town in 1973, the promoter of the Local Association of Housewives, in the organization of conferences, workshops and an enormous social work towards the most needy families of the locality.

Another street takes on the name of Lucrecia Egea, deceased in 2012, married to Juan Alcaraz, miller of the old mill of Los Sáez and that from the time of the 60 regent Casa Lucrecia in the neighborhood, where he sold food, slaughter, butane and gave meals and coffee, also helping the neediest families in the neighborhood.

Also named one of these streets Ramona Martinez de Henarejos, centenarian Pinatarense and one of the founders of the Association of Housewives of San Pedro del Pinatar in 1968 and first president of this association.

Another one of these streets takes the name of Dolores Albaladejo López, daughter of the town and well-known like Lola "La Mingolesa", first worker of the City council, administration in which it developed its working life during more than 40 years.

Pilar de la Osa also has one of these streets, an entrepreneurial woman at the head of a clothing store and curtains in the center of the town for more than 40 years and involved in the life of the municipality through collectives such as the Brotherhood of San Pedro, home of the Pensioner or the Association of Housewives, places where at 90 years continues to teach courses and workshops.

It has also been named one of the streets with the name of Diego Albaladejo, born in Lo Pagán in 1910 and promoter of one of the most important industries in the area, referring to salting.

Entrepreneur who combined this activity with agriculture, livestock and a tobacconist in the center of the town, business with which employed many people of the municipality and others who settled here definitely.

The other park will be named Los Salineros, in honor of the relevance and importance of this collective of workers and their families in the municipality, social life and economic development throughout history, explained the mayor.

In addition, this space is completed with a sculpture, made by Andrés Sánchez, in which an old salinero is observed, with implements and traditional clothing, in the extraction of salt.

Finally, one of the streets will be named "8 de Marzo", International Women's Day, which commemorates the struggle of women for their participation, on an equal footing with men, in society and in his full development as a person.

During the ceremony, the mayor has traced the trajectory of these Pinatarenses and has given a commemorative plaque to each of them.
