Popular University renews its training offer in all areas with 52 courses (04/10/2017)

The training program of the Popular University 2016-2017 offers 1,700 places in 52 courses that will be taught between October and May aimed at strengthening and promoting lifelong education.

The Councilor for Education, Guadalupe Garcia, and the director of the Popular University, Mariano Martínez, today presented the training offer of this institution for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The event was also attended by the Carmen Cajura Foundation, Mª Carmen Saura, director of the Marenostrum Bank office in the town;

and for la Caixa Social Work, Carlos Merelo, area director, and Juan Antonio Ros, director of the La Caixa office in San Pedro.

Guadalupe García explained that this year the Popular University is improving its offer with a total of 52 courses, 18 of them new and 11 homologated.

The council has indicated that the objective of this training offer is to generate new stimuli, through the development of knowledge and preparation to the labor market, focused on training aimed at job search and specialization.

In addition, he emphasized that the integrative philosophy of the Popular University has made this institution count on a larger number of students each year, composed of students who wish to expand their knowledge, who are looking for specific training to compete in the labor market or for those who have not previously had prior access to education.

Among other novelties, Mariano Martínez has indicated that in the area of ​​languages ​​this year an initial level of Russian and Japanese culture is added, in addition to the offer in English, French and German.

Of the computer courses this year, the graphic design and socio-sanitary branch is incorporated, one of the most demanded, is expanded with a course of sports nutrition, and another approved of care of the geriatric patient in the domiciliary or institutionalized area.

In the field of education, the courses of auxiliary in special education, level I and II, and the homologated course of initiation to sign language are incorporated.

Another area that has been consolidated over the years as one of the most demanded are the courses related to aesthetics and massage, which incorporate courses of initiation to manual lymphatic drainage in two levels, and initial course of acupuncture .

Other specific courses, aimed at training for employment that are taught for the first time in this course are swimming pool maintenance (homologated), sports activities monitor (homologated), personal trainer, commercial management and marketing and career guidance.

In the area of ​​personal development is incorporated the course of cutting ham and pairing, which adds to the cooking and design and making of clothes.

After the presentation, Carmen Saura has reiterated the Cajamurcia Foundation's commitment to this project since its inception and has praised the work of the team that forms the Popular University.

For his part, Carlos Merelo has highlighted the social character of this project, which gives opportunity to train hundreds of people every year.

The council has thanked the involvement of the Foundation Cajamurcia with this training project since its inception that in this course provides 1,500 euros for its funding, as well as Obra Social La Caixa, which this year is incorporated into this project with a provision of 3,000 euros .
