San Pedro del Pinatar gives voice to children and young people through the Council for Children and Adolescents (07/11/2017)

The full City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar today approved the regulations of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents, as well as a new document on the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy to qualify for European funding.

The City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar will have a new body for citizen participation that aims to give voice to the children and youth of the municipality, collecting their demands and interests, through the Council for Children and Adolescents, whose regulations have been today approved in full.

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Francisca Pelegrín, explained that the purpose of this body is that children and young people have the opportunity to participate in municipal life, creating in them a seed of civic commitment in the community in which they live.

Thus, the council will be chaired by the mayor and will have up to 21 children and adolescents from different schools in the town, in addition to the councilors of Citizen Participation and Social Welfare, a representative of the Associations of Parents, and two technicians Municipalities of the Department of Social Welfare.

The Council will give its members the opportunity to collaborate actively in municipal policies, make concrete proposals on what is their responsibility and know first-hand the local actions addressed to them.

In this line of action, aimed at improving the well-being of children and promoting policies that ensure the comprehensive development of children and adolescents, the plenary session has also approved the City Council's adhesion proposal to obtain the Amiga city recognition stamp. NEW DUSI STRATEGY

On the other hand, the Plenary has approved the document of the Strategy of Sustainable Urban Development for its presentation to the third call for obtaining European funds through the European program FEDER of sustainable growth 2014-2020, which this time allocates 22.38 million of euros to the Region of Murcia.

Based on the European guidelines, the strategy includes four thematic objectives.

Among them, improve the access and use of information technologies through projects such as the modernization of electronic administration and the creation of a Smart City management platform, which would cost 688.791 euros between the years 2017 and 2023.

Another objective is to favor the transition to a low carbon emission economy through the improvement of bicycle mobility with a wider network of bicycle lanes, the installation of electric vehicle charging points, or a plan of energetic improvement of the municipal lighting, with a total budget of 1.34 million euros between 2017 and 2019.

The fourth line of the strategy is the conservation of the environment and the promotion of the efficiency of the resources, through the protection, promotion and development of the natural heritage and tourist interest of the walks of Lo Pagán and Villananitos and the rehabilitation and reconversion of this area for the enhancement of the fishing heritage of the town, with a budget of 1.64 million between 2017 and 2019.

Finally, measures are included to promote social inclusion, through the economic and social regeneration of neighborhoods such as Los Sáez or San Esteban;

and the rehabilitation of emblematic spaces such as the Floridablanca spa and the urban center, with a budget of 2.6 million between 2017 and 2021.

Thus, the total budget of the projects submitted amounts to 6.25 million euros, of which 80%, 5 million, would be financed with FEDER funds to be awarded the funds by the City of San Pedro del Pinatar.

MOTIONS

On the other hand, the plenary has approved a joint motion of PP, Ciudadanos and PSOE to urge the Assembly so that in a future modification of the Law of Transparency and Citizen Participation in the Region, study the inclusion of City Councils in its scope of application , counting on them and supporting them in the impulse of measures in this matter.

A motion has also been unanimously agreed to request that in the next General State budgets the salary comparison of the Civil Guard and the National Police be approached, in order to bring them closer to those of other police forces, given the important work they perform.

Finally, a joint motion of PP, Ciudadanos and PSOE has been approved to support the proposals to mitigate the effects of water scarcity in the Cartagena field proposed by the Irrigation Community and which are reflected in the Levantine Manifesto by the Water.
