The parish priest of San Pedro Apóstol, Roberto Burgos, today made delivery to the patron of the Fishermen's Guild, Jesús Antonio Gómez, of the ancient crown of the Virgen del Carmen, which the image would look from 1940 to 2004.
In 2004, the canonical coronation of the Virgen del Carmen took place, producing the replacement of the crown that it carried and remaining in the custody of the parish.
The parish priest has indicated that with this act the church gives the fishermen's fraternity this crown for its exhibition in the Museum of the Sea, allowing it to be seen by all those who visit it, as well as by the devotees of the Virgin of the Carmen.
For his part, the patron thanked the cession to the parish and highlighted the devotion and respect of the fishermen from Pinar del Rio for the Virgen del Carmen.
The mayor, Visitación Martínez, thanked the willingness of the Fishermen's Association, the parish, and the Virgen del Carmen Association in their joint work to value the pilgrimage of the Virgen del Carmen, which this year has been 125 years and that It is one of the festivities with more roots and tradition of the town.
