Teofilo Jiménez wins the 17th edition of the El Capellán Memorial cycling race (26/11/2017)

The runner Teofilo Jimenez, of cycles Teo, was the first to cross the finish line in the seventeenth edition of this urban race with a time of 1 hour 24 minutes and 52 seconds.

San Pedro del Pinatar has hosted this morning the seventeenth edition of the race "Memorial El Capellán", organized by the local cycling club, with the collaboration of the City Council and this year has modified its circuit to make it more urban and visible to the public.

The race, of 64 kilometers, has left Artero Guirao Avenue at 10:30 am, after a minute of silence in memory of Antonio Martínez "El Capellán", a member of CC Pinatar who died in a traffic accident.

The Councilor for Sports, Daniel Pérez, the president of the Murcian Cycling Federation, Sergio Martínez Ros, the president of the Pinatar cycling club, Demetrio Pedreño, the son of "El Capellán", and the professional cyclist Rubén Fernández Andujar, of Movistar, they gave the exit to the 110 runners who initiated a circular circuit of eight returns of eight kilometers.

Shortly before 12:00, the cyclist Teofilo Jiménez crossed the finish line, followed by the runners Pedro José López, of the ULB Sports Monforte, and José Manuel Cayuela, of the Pérez Cánovas Nomarspain Kross club.

This test is scoring for the Second Tour of the Mar Menor, which will close next Sunday at Los Narejos and which counts the tests of San Javier, Molina de Segura, San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares.

After the day today, Pedro José López Gil is placed as the leader of the regional test.

The cycling day has ended with the awards ceremony, given by the mayor, Visitación Martínez, the councilors of Sports, Daniel Perez, and Citizen Security, Angela Gaona, the president of the Federation Sergio Martinez, and Fina Sáez, widow of "The Chaplain."

The prizes for the three winners were given with a ham and gifts were also distributed for the top 40 classifieds, loins (from 4 to 15), chorizos (from 16 to 30) and wine bottles (from 31 to 40).

The flying goal was also awarded in the fourth round, for return for José López Gil, to the first place, Germán Pindado and to the first classified woman, Ariana Ródenas.
