Lo Pagán will count this summer with a renewed Parque del Mar and a pedestrian access to the promenade (14/02/2018)

The coastal area of ​​Lo Pagán will count this year with important projects in public spaces, mainly on the seafront, such as the complete remodeling of the Parque del Mar or the opening of a new street lounge towards the sea on the seafront.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, today presented to the residents of Lo Pagán important projects that will be carried out this year in the coastal district, in order to modernize it and make it more accessible, mainly on the seafront.

One of the actions announced by the mayor will be the demolition of the old pub "El Coyote", in the zone of the bars of the Curve, an area that will be adapted as street lounge access to the sea, which will also serve as a rest area for pedestrians, with a large bench and large hanging pots.

The person in charge of the project, the local architect Bernardo Cerrato has emphasized that the project presents / displays this space like "a great hall of welcome to the Mar Menor", in which they emphasize reminiscences of the fishing and the local culture, introducing signs of identity of San Pedro of the Pinatar.

The mayor explained that this project will have a budget close to 100,000 euros and is expected to run between the months of May and June, before the summer season.

It is also expected that for these dates is being undertaken the comprehensive reform of the Kings Park of Spain, which will involve the creation of a larger and accessible space, an area aimed at family leisure that will have playgrounds, biosaludable area, circuit sports, bike path, shadow areas, picnic area and parking for bicycles, among other elements.

This park will also mean the improvement of accessibility of this space, with the adaptation to the current regulations of all its accesses and interior walk, and will also update the stage area for the programming of cultural and leisure events in this park.

On the other hand, the Mayca Egea architect from Blek Estudio, from Pinar del Rio, pointed out that it is a family park, with activities for all ages, pedestrian access and textile shading, also associated with a landscaping project and green areas.

Visitación Martínez has indicated that this project will be executed on an area of ​​12,000 square meters, with a budget that exceeds 480,000 euros.

The aim of all these actions is to value the maritime façade of the town, offering neighbors and visitors new and better public spaces for outdoor leisure.

These actions will be completed with the Campoamor street project, in the execution phase, and the rehabilitation of Balneario Floridablanca, whose dismantling work is also planned for before the summer.
