The Sardine will arrive in San Pedro del Pinatar aboard a dragonboat manned by the "pink flamingos" (16/03/2018)

The councilman of Celebrations, Javier Castejón, has presented today in the Center of Nautical Activities of Lo Pagán, the acts of the arrival of the Sardine to San Pedro del Pinatar the next April 1.

The activities will start with several charangas through the streets of Lo Pagán at 5:00 pm announcing the arrival of the Sardine, which will continue, at around 6:00 pm, will be the reception of the sardine on the beach of La Puntica, who will arrive aboard a dragonboat crewed by the BCS Dragon Boat Flamenco Rosa team, made up of local women who have overcome a cancer.

This day will continue at 7:00 p.m. with local carnival parades and visitors, charangas and 23 sardine groups parading through the streets of the municipality, from Parque Lázaro Escudero to Plaza Luis Molina, in front of City Hall.

The final touch will be the performance of Andrés Ballester and Salva Ortega's concert.

Attendees can enjoy a beer tasting, courtesy of Estrella de Levante.

In addition to this day, the City of San Pedro del Pinatar will be in the arrival of the sardine to Murcia, on Thursday, April 5, which will feature the participation of Flamenco Rosas and Peña El Caldero, followed by a parade through the streets of the capital where there will also be local representation with the Kebanna group.

The great parade of the Burial of the Sardine, on Saturday, April 7, will also have a presence in Pinar del Rio, with the band Unión Musical de San Pedro and the group of Kebanna.

Javier Castejón has explained that for the promotion of these events a poster has been prepared, the work of Antonio Gregorio, in which a sardine emerges from the sea, together with iconic elements of the town.

The Councilor stressed the importance for the municipality of being part of this Festival, declared of International Tourist Interest, for which he thanked the Sardinera Association for its confidence in the town.

A thank you that has extended to the associations, comparsas, and local collectives that have wanted to be part of these acts, such as the Flamenco Rosa team, the local charanga Huapango, the comparsas La Nueva Ola, Glamorous Stars, San Pedro Apóstol school and Kebanna, and the Peña de El Caldero, as well as the sponsors Cubiplaya and Zambú.
