The Celtic group Gwendal, Curro y Susana Re Piñana star in the fourth edition of Folk Pinatar (22/02/2011)

The international festival of roots music bets again this year by the traditional music of the region with groups of international standing, on a schedule, complete with exhibits, children's activities and performances at local bars.

The councilman of Culture of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, Mark David Gracia, and is responsible for Surefolk, Francisco Morales, today presented the schedule of the fourth edition of Folk Pinatar, which has also benefited from the presence of the singer from Murcia Susana Re

The councilman of Culture, Mark David Grace, highlighted the importance of this festival, which focuses on traditional music which combines the presence of international groups with artists from Murcia.

In this sense, Grace has chosen to recover traditions and projection for this type of minority music in the region, as has been described as "priority" maintenance pinatarense festival.

The festival, held from 14 to 17 March, will headline performance by Celtic group from France Gwendal, Saturday 16 at the Modern Film Theatre San Pedro del Pinatar, in which, for now, is their only concert confirmed in Spain this year.

Francisco Morales highlighted the history of this group, established over 30 years and has 10 albums released in over 20 countries.

It also indicated that the festival will open on Thursday March 14 with performances of traditional Irish music group in the pub Bardoi The Corner, contributor to the festival.

This group is made up of British musicians, Irish and Scottish based in Alicante.

Time for Murcia groups will be Friday March 15 at the Modern Film Theatre, the concert singer and flamenco Susana Re Curro Piñana, acting together with the folk group Azarbe.

Susana Re pinatarense thanked the City Council its commitment to regional culture in a time of crisis, after which he has interpreted the theme "Where is justice?", The title of his latest work.

The festival will close on Sunday, March 17, the day dedicated to children, with a performance at the Place de la Constitution, at 12:30, by the group "Binefar puppeteers, from Huesca and Aragon fused traditional music with puppetry, which earned them a national award for children's theater in 2009.

In addition, Folk Pinatar parallel activities is completed as a regional craft market in the square of the Constitution during the weekend and the exhibition "crews" which portrays this southeastern Spanish musical tradition and will remain in theater to Contemporary Film late April.

Also, the Liverpool pub folk music sessions offered after the concerts, as well as meetings with stakeholder groups and discounts on drinks.
