The mayor receives a group of Saharawi children spend the summer with families in the municipality (22/08/2011)

ADAPT Anglophone association has given a donation of 1,500 euros Holidays in Peace, which develops various charity projects in the Tindouf camps and is responsible for processing the summer stay of children in the municipality

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, and Councillor for Citizen Participation, Silvia Egea, have today received five Sahrawi children, aged between 8 and 11, who spend their summer vacation with families in the municipality.

During the ceremony, the association of Anglophone ADAPT has delivered a donation of 1,500 euros and several lots of toys to children in Western Sahara.

The mayor thanked the work of Holidays in Peace, which each year works for these children spend the summer in the city and near the San Pedro citizens of the reality of the Sahrawi people.

He also praised the humanitarian work of the association of Anglophone ADAPT, a group active, supportive and "ready to join the municipality pinatarense contributing to society."

It has highlighted the effort this year to accommodate families with children for two months and invited the little ones to enjoy a stay "warm and friendly" in the locality.

Meanwhile, Silvia Egea noted that since the council Citizen Participation has backed this project with the goal of promoting values ​​such as tolerance, respect and cooperation, as well as disclose the situation of the Saharawi camps in the region Tindouf.

In this sense, the Peace Officer of holidays in the town, Nuria Bureau, highlighted the harshness of life in refugee camps, where children can withstand temperatures up to 55 degrees, and thanked the host families to these children are aware of another reality.

The president of ADAPT, Jane Cronin, explained that this association has undertaken various activities throughout the year to raise funds, such as performances, raffles, or a weekly gathering of exchange, which has managed to achieve a Donation of 1,500 euros.

At the end of act ADAPT members have given lots of games to the five children who spend the summer in San Pedro, and they have been given a gift from the City Council.
