The municipal Emergency Service attended over 10,000 calls in 2011 (21/02/2012)

Emergency Service and Civil Protection of the City of San Javier (SEM) attended in 2011 a total of 9,880 calls, of which 4,634 were related to public safety and public, 1,435 were referred to health emergencies, 1,592 incidents of traffic, 1,172 civil protection and marine salvage, towing 441 to municipal, municipal services and 398 to 208 to firefighting and rescue.

As to the time of year, most of the ads, 3,225 calls were recorded in the third quarter, coinciding with the summer, when the city recorded a significant increase in population due to tourism.

In relation to the days of the week, most of these announcements occurred on weekends, with 1,410 calls on Saturday and 1,296 on Sundays.

In the area of ​​Public Safety and Public Service, the annual balance SEM shows a decline in citizen security consultations, which last of 1,904 in 2010 to 1,858 in 2011.

Other issues in this area managed by the MES were noise issues (477), animals (380 calls), paperwork lost (208) and disappearances (49), among others.

Of the 1,592 traffic-related calls, 331 were due to accidents and 123 services occurred in incidents with injuries, which shows a slight decrease, compared to 128 last year.

Moreover, the total of 1,435 emergency and health emergencies attended, 299 were emergency trauma, 105 accidents, 12 interventions with firefighters, 77 emergency room for pain, 89 moves, 85 ailments, 39 public safety services and public 26 emergency digestive and five immersion syndrome, among others.

In this regard include the large decrease in care for immersion syndrome, which have grown from 12 in 2010 to only 5 in the last year.

Also, from Civil Protection preventive actions have been performed, drills and intervention in incidents related to power outages, water and telephone networks.

Moreover, the Forest Watch Special Plan, developed by volunteers between June and September, managed 250 performances, of which 158 were informative, but also made efforts to support effective monitoring beaches, emergencies, local police and firefighters.

The SEM also has addressed the scope of the Surveillance and Rescue on the beaches of San Javier, coordinated by the regional plan COPLA, who had 21 points for monitoring and closed with 3056 incidents, among which stood out assists stings, wounds, and support service for the disabled, among others.

The Municipal Emergency Services of San Javier consists of 25 professionals who are divided into the areas of preventive services, surveillance and Rescue; CECOPAL room 112 and the municipal ambulance service, built in 2010, and a technical office and the municipal group of volunteers, which last year consisted of 75 people.

Among the main actions taken by the Emergency in 2011 include, among others, their participation in the rescue and care for victims of the earthquake in Lorca, the evacuation device for vehicles and bilge water from heavy rains of the past November and collaboration in the special operation of removal of jellyfish on the beach Villananitos.
