The government team reduced municipal spending € 5.2 million in one year (22/06/2012)

The mayor of San Javier, Martinez Visitation, today provided a press conference to account for the balance of managing your team of government during the first year in office.

The mayor said that during this exercise municipal management has focused on managing the economic crisis and develop effective management, transparency and accountability in public spending which has resulted in savings of more than 5.2 million.

Here he has indicated that it has reduced the spending power of the consistory at 36.7 percent, from 12.59 million euro invoiced between 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011 to 7,97 million in the last year, representing a saving of 4.62 million.

The mayor explained that this reduction was made possible by the implementation of measures as a purchasing control system, eliminating unnecessary costs, removing 40% of mobile phone lines and setting up a savings plan energy that has already resulted in the reduction of over 35% on electricity bills.

In addition, this year the City's payroll has increased from 8.53 to 7,930,000 euros, representing a reduction of 595,103 euros and 10.08%.

Savings achieved through non-renewal of temporary contracts and a drastic reduction in overtime and bonuses.

In terms of debt to suppliers, which at the beginning of the legislature amounted to 31.5 million euros, the mayor explained that the savings measures were to be reduced to 27.2 earlier this year and that the Pay Plan , supported by the Ministry of Finance, has enabled the funding of 17 million euros through ICO loans whose repayment is made over the next 10 years.

The mayor stressed that the Government should continue the efforts made during this first year to meet the obligations of the borrowing and take the 10 million that are still outstanding, related mostly to government debts, trusts and other entities that could not be included in the payment plan.

REVIVAL OF TOURISM AND SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Visitation Martinez has stressed the need to supplement this policy of austerity measures to revive the economy, focusing mainly on the tourism industry and boost trade.

Among the many actions in this line, the mayor emphasized the implementation of a calendar of trade shows developed on the esplanade of Lo Pagan, creating a business census that is home to 700 companies in the municipality or the holding of the First Sea World Exhibition in April, which hosted 15,000 visitors, among other measures.

The training for the labor market has been one of the pillars of this first year in office, and from the Department of Employment has conducted 26 courses for job placement are completed with a wide range of the People's University, receiving to 800 students.

Another priority this year has been to raise the level of activity of the municipality, through councils such as Education, Youth, Sports and Culture and Celebration, which have conducted extensive programming throughout the year, thus supporting the same the initiative of local associations and groups

SUMMER Camapaña

Among the short-term objectives of the council, the mayor stressed the summer season, a period for which the planned actions and activities from different councils, as the reorganization of the show, closing streets to traffic and Antonio Muñoz Delgado Tárraga in Lo Pagan and the development of sport and leisure activities on the beaches of the municipality.

He also noted that in June will start summer school bulletin, which offers 380 seats for the months of June and August.

In the coming days will also be a new municipal website more accessible to citizens, which includes a wide range of services and information bulletin, and the local Volunteer Plan to be developed in a social aspect, with features such as support to households or mobility support, and other civic-centered environment and culture.

SPORTS AND CULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The mayor ended his speech by stating that the government team will work in the coming months to provide infrastructure to the municipality hosting the local cultural activity and the expansion and operation of sports facilities.

Visitation Martinez reiterated the commitment it made at the beginning of the legislature to make a close management to citizen demands, transparent and efficient to put the goal posts of the economic and social recovery of San Javier.
