A total of 30 volunteers develop social, educational, cultural and environmental (05/12/2012)

The City of San Javier today celebrated the International Volunteer Day with a ceremony which recognized the work of the 31 volunteers participating in the plan "Discover the best in you, become a volunteer"

The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez and Councilman Volunteering, Álvaro Tárraga, today acknowledged the work of the 31 persons enrolled in the local Volunteer Plan since its inception last October, participating in various activities social and civic.

Álvaro Tárraga highlighted the acceptance of this program in its first two months of implementation and emphasized that these results demonstrate that San Javier "is a municipality and active solidarity, committed to social action in cases of vulnerability and prevention through the promotion of best practice and the respect of the public. "

Plan currently has a total of 31 volunteers, 10 of them in voluntary work, where they perform actions accompanying elderly and dependent, as well as collaborating with activities supporting multiculturalism.

Civic Volunteerism has 21 volunteers who develop cultural activities, such as support services and media library cataloging, order, file and archive of municipal libraries, which also conduct workshops in music, magic and chess, and elementary school booster club homework, extracurricular activities, storytelling and cultural animation.

Likewise, a group of volunteers working in educational activities as scheduled to mark Constitution Day and participate in a study skills workshop.

In addition, four volunteers have agreed to collaborate in the maintenance of parks and gardens, and raise awareness about the importance of respecting public spaces.

During the ceremony has been performed on a projection that showed the work done in each of the programs and has given a small gift to each volunteer.

The mayor, Visitation Martinez, altruistic action thanked all volunteers who have already joined the local volunteer plan, which takes into account the concerns and suggestions of the participants to develop different programs and lines volunteering.

He has also praised his involvement with the town and thanked devote part of their time to improve the social, environmental, educational and cultural San Javier.

The volunteer council has scheduled for early 2013 a new volunteer training course, in order to meet the demand of many citizens who have expressed their intention to join this project.
