The Commission addresses Truancy prevention and control measures for the course 2013-2014 (15/10/2013)

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez has presided over the municipal technical committee absenteeism, in which representatives of all schools in the county, as well as responsible for the Autonomous Community, the City and Educational Inspection.

The purpose of this meeting was to constitute the Technical Committee absenteeism, prior to signing the agreement for the implementation of the Regional Programme for the Prevention, Monitoring and Control Truancy and Dropout Reduction Program (RESP).

Also, it has created a sub-committee work tracked monthly cases of absenteeism detected in the municipality and memory discussed in the Municipal Plan 2012-2013.

Absenteeism Municipal Plan, through the mediator, educator, in coordination with schools and colleges, the staff of the departments of Education, Social Services and the police tutor, last year detected a total of 53 cases of absenteeism , of which 58% are secondary school students, 32% of primary and 10% in children.

During this period the municipal plan Absenteeism has worked in the prevention and control of absenteeism with performances like the promotion of early childhood education school, interventions with parents and students to inform them about the consequences of dropping out.

Individual performances are also performed on each case with interviews with the head of research centers, tutors, and students and parents, analyzing the specific situation and the causes that may have led to absenteeism of each particular child.

The result of this study is that 58% of students have returned to regular education system and 21% has been observed increased attendance, but the problem persists lesser extent.

The committee has been composed of the mayor, Visitation Martinez, the Councillor for Education, Guadalupe Garcia, inspectors of primary and secondary education, Carmelo Sanchez and Salvador Ludeman, respectively, technical teachers community service, and teaching technical advisor, Rocío Lineros, representing the Ministry of Education.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of schools Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Los Pinos, Hopes, Maspalomas, Los Antolinos, Villa Joy, Nursery School # 1, St. Peter the Apostle, Castelar College and institutes Dos Mares and Manuel Tárraga Escribano.
