The Budget includes measures to protect the Mar Menor, aid to the affected sectors and new equipment (17/12/2019)

The budget project of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar includes more than 1.3 million euros in infrastructure for the environmental protection of the Mar Menor, more than 170,000 euros in additional measures and aid for the affected sectors and new equipment as a socio-cultural center.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the Councilor for Finance, José Fernández, today reported on the main aspects included in the municipal budget for the year 2020, which amounts to 25.99 million euros and has been approved by the Municipal Plenary, with the votes in favor of the PP and against PSOE, Citizens and Vox.

The mayor, Visitación Martínez, stressed that the Mar Menor and the support for the sectors affected by the crisis are the pillars of the 2020 budget, as reflected in the investments, which this year amount to 3.18 million euros, of which 1.3 million euros are earmarked for its environmental protection.

Thus, the renovation of the promenades is included, endowed with 700,000 euros, and that incorporates the rainwater channeling of the entire maritime façade, 575,000 euros will also be invested in the review and renovation of the municipal sanitation and stormwater networks.

Other investments included in this budget are 817,000 euros for municipal facilities, with the creation of a new socio-cultural center, endowed with 500,000 euros, and the improvement of sports facilities, which will allocate 317,600 euros.

In addition to actions in neighborhoods and districts, with 400,000 euros for paving, LED lighting and adaptation of sidewalks.

Also included in the chapter of investments 134,500 euros in security, for the provision of a new ambulance, a command post vehicle for Local Police and tablets for agents.

In addition to 300,000 euros for citizen proposals, 200,000 euros for the external auditorium project in the Center for Leisure and Emerging Arts, winner of the participatory budgeting process, and 100,000 euros for a parkour, also outside this center, initiative of the Council of Children and Adolescents.

In addition, the budget includes 30 additional measures to support the fishing, commercial and tourism sectors, which amount to 171,500 euros in the year 2020.

Thus, 71,000 euros are allocated to the fishing sector;

with 40,000 euros of aid for fishermen who have not received aid from other administrations, 21,000 euros for the maintenance of the fishermen's association and the Museum of the Sea and 10,000 euros for the promotion of artisanal fisheries.

For the commercial sector, 30,000 euros are allocated for training, advice, and modernization.

Meanwhile, 50,000 euros are earmarked for promotional activities of the municipality and all the sectors affected.

Likewise, the budget includes 128,000 for trade and 510,000 euros for the tourism sector, which include investments such as the renovation of the sludge area and interactive information points, in addition to spending on services such as beach cleaning throughout the year, promotion at fairs, etc.

Family policies, focused on reconciliation, are also reflected in the budget, for which 110,000 euros will be allocated to Christmas, Easter and Summer school (53,000 euros), the bus to the school canteen (32,000 euros), the morning classrooms (15,000 euros) and direct aid to families with children from 0 to 3 years (10,000 euros).

Another of the current spending chapters that increases is the item destined to the collection of animals, which rises to 142,000 euros, to comply with Sacrifice 0 and the Law on Protection and Defense of companion animals in the Region of Murcia.

This budget also extends tourism, educational, cultural, popular, sports and youth activities, to which it allocates more than 400,000 euros, so that San Pedro del Pinatar remains a live and active municipality throughout the year, he explained.

As for income, the councilor of Finance has recalled that since 2011 a policy of freezing municipal taxes has been maintained, which is consolidated again this year, adding new bonuses.

Within the measures to support trade and hospitality, 99% of the public occupancy rate with chairs and tables has been generally reduced, a 99% bonus has also been included in the ICIO (Construction Tax, Facilities and Works) for those affected by the DANA of September.

Likewise, in 2020 the capital gain will be reduced by 95%, in the case of the death of a direct relative, for habitual housing and premises affected by economic activity.

A 30% bonus is also included in the Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles (IVTM) for hybrid and electric vehicles.

It has also indicated that the tax rate of the IBI, which is set at 0.61, is corrected downward for another year to compensate for the revision of cadastral values.

The mayor has concluded that these are realistic, rigorous and truthful budgets, whose fundamental axes are the protection of the Mar Menor, the support to the different affected sectors, and to deepen the well-being of all the Pinatarenses, so that San Pedro del Pinatar is a municipality of the future.
