Visitation Martínez held a meeting with the president of the Regional Government, Fernando López Miras, focused mainly on the actions for the regeneration of the Mar Menor, in addition to addressing projects in the health, education and firefighting fields.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the Autonomous Executive, Fernando López Miras, held a meeting today in which they agreed on the need to work in a priority and coordinated way for the environmental recovery of the Mar Menor, implemented measures concrete.
In this regard, they urged the new Government of the Nation to start acting now for the regeneration of the lagoon.
In this sense, the Minister of the Presidency, Javier Celdrán, remarked that "the commitment of the regional government and the riverside municipalities with the Mar Menor is clear, but it is necessary that the Pedro Sánchez Executive also begins to act."
"We must recover this ecosystem with the commitment of the three administrations since the Mar Menor is not only from a town hall or the Region of Murcia, but is from all Spaniards," he added.
Visitation Martínez highlighted the commitment of López Miras and his Government team, who transferred that the Mar Menor will be a priority in the regional budgets of 2020. In addition, from the tourist point of view, a promotion plan for the region will be developed, where new lines will be implemented in addition to the "Sun and beach", such as nature, gastronomic, nautical or sports tourism, in the case of San Pedro del Pinatar.
During the meeting, health and educational infrastructure projects were also addressed, such as the construction of a new medical office in Lo Pagán, whose tender is scheduled for this year or the replacement of asbestos cover in one of the modules of the Manuel Tárraga Esscribano Institute , a project that has already been tendered and is expected to be carried out in summer.
In the educational area, the construction of the aquaculture module at the Manuel Tárraga Escribano Institute and the new pavilion for children's education at Maspalomas School was also discussed.
In addition, the mayor made available to the Regional Government the land necessary for the installation of a fire station in the municipality.
This park will replace and expand the service currently offered from a retainer installed in the town.
