The Museum of the Sea of ​​San Pedro del Pinatar, belonging to the Fishermen's Association, has opened its doors again after a few months of inactivity.
The new stage of the Museum begins with an exhibition called "Men of the Sea", which brings together more than twenty photographs of fishermen from coastal towns of the Mar Menor in the foreground.
The opening ceremony of this exhibition, led by Benito Pérez, director of the Museum, was attended by a broad representation of the regional government, headed by its vice president, Isabel Franco, who was accompanied by the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga and the director of the Tourism Institute, Juan Francisco Martínez.
The inauguration of this exhibition, was also attended by the new major patron of the Fishermen's Association, José Blaya, as well as the mayor of the municipality, Visitación Martínez, and numerous representatives of the municipal corporation, in addition to numerous associations and groups of the municipality.
The images that can be seen in the Museum until April 12, have been donated by the Baron de Benifayó Museum and made by José López Albaladejo.
In "Men of the Sea", you can see in the faces of fishermen, in their wrinkles, in their marks, the passage of time and the traces left by this hard profession.
During the act, a photograph of the Virgen del Carmen, recovered and dated in 1938 and an inscription from 1914, was given to the chief patron of the Fishermen's Association, so that they remain in the museum as part of their heritage, and a copy for the Association of Our Lady the Virgin of Carmen, closely linked to this Museum.
This exhibition is the first sample of a new stage that opens in the celebration of the forty anniversary of this unique Museum in the region.
