The Plenary of the City Council has approved a joint motion of the Citizen, Popular and Socialist groups to adhere to these two important environmental networks at the municipal level and request funds to develop concrete actions in this area.
The Plenary of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar has approved today the joint motion of the Citizen, Popular and Socialist municipal groups to join the Network of Cities for the climate and the network of local biodiversity governments, both promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
The motion, which has had the votes in favor of the proponents and against VOX, points out the importance of linking San Pedro del Pinatar to these two forums as another tool in the fight to save the Mar Menor.
Thus, it has been agreed to join the Spanish Network of Cities for Climate that coordinates and promotes local policies to combat climate change, in addition to the Network of Local Governments + Biodiversity, which aims to create a stable framework that promotes and promotes the adoption of policies, plans and programs in the field of conservation and promotion of bidoversity.
It has also been approved to urge the competent administrations to enable new financing lines to carry out the commitments acquired under these two networks and to develop and complete the actions of the local Sustainable Energy Action Plan, approved in 2013.
