Education develops the First Week of the Multilingual School Theater with works in Spanish, French and English (07/02/2020)

The Department of Education has launched this new activity aimed at secondary and high school education in which 900 students from the IES Dos Mares, IES Manuel Tárraga Escribano, CEC San Pedro Apóstol and New Castelar College have participated.

The House of Culture has hosted from January 28 to February 6 the First Week of the Plurilingual School Theater, an initiative of the Department of Education to promote learning both Spanish and foreign languages ​​taught in the institutes.

Thus, throughout the week various classical works have been adapted to the theatrical format, also seeking the participation of the spectators in them, become part of the theatrical montage, since this technique helps the development of language skills and competences communicative of the students.

The cycle began with an adaptation of Sheakespeare as the protagonist of the work in English, with 'Are Romeo and Juliet really in love?', A one-person show in which a pseudo journalist investigates the real history of the two young people, for which It has the participation of the public, using interaction dynamics that create a playful learning space.

For the work in French, 'Et maintenant ... Q'est ce qu'on fait?'

which deals with the dispute between two actors after a rugged representation of the works of Molière.

The cycle has concluded this week with the theater in Castilian and the work 'A day with the classics', in which fragments of some of the best-known authors and works of the Golden Age and the 19th century are introduced, such as Life is dream (Calderón de la Barca), Don Juan Tenorio (José Zorrilla), Don Quijote de la Mancha (Miguel de Cervantes) or A man with a big nose (Francisco de Quevedo).

This Week of the Multilingual Theater joins other initiatives of the Department of Education to bring and make language learning more accessible to students, such as the celebration of European Language Day, last September with a multilingual storyteller for students elementary school, or the series of projections "Let's go to the cinema" Allons au cinema! ", with films in original version the second and third Thursday of each month, throughout the school year, in the House of Culture, directed mainly to high school students.
