La Caixa City Council and Social Work allocate 58,500 euros to food aid and health associations (11/02/2020)

The Solidarity Basket project is funded with 33,000 euros destined to subsidize projects of local associations that collaborate with the distribution of food to families at risk of social exclusion, while 25,500 euros have been allocated to the initiatives of socio-sanitary associations at the local level .

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, together with the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Zoilo Ballester, the director of the business area of ​​the Mar Menor Costa Cálida de Caixabank, Iulia Elena Murariu, and the director of the office of this entity in the The municipality, Esther Cánovas, today delivered the grants granted in December 2019 to these projects.

Visitation Martínez has highlighted the commitment of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar for close, open and participatory policies, which advocate deepening Corporate Social Responsibility and supporting groups and associations that develop an important work at the social level.

Thus, he explained that the Solidarity Basket, endowed with 33,000 euros, is intended to provide associations that collaborate with the Region's Food Aid Plan, through the distribution of essential products to families at risk of exclusion.

The associations benefiting from this project are Caritas Parroquial, with a subsidy of 24,000 euros, for the acquisition of perishable products that complete those of the food bank, and Red Cross Mar Menor Norte, with 9,000 euros, aimed at healthy breakfasts for the little ones .

SOCIO-SANITARY PROJECTS

During the event, the grants were also delivered to local socio-health associations, with 25,500 euros.

The purpose is to contribute to the help and well-being of the sick and family members of the local associations that work in this area.

Thus, six projects have been subsidized in this area.

AIDEMAR, Association for the Integration to Disability in the Mar Menor, has received 5,664 euros for the project "Caring for the caregiver: reach your well-being, learn more, live better, take good care", while AFEMAR, Association of family members and people with mental illness received 2,935 euros for the initiative "Mentalized in our land, for the planting of native flora in the vicinity of the association's premises.

The local delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has obtained 3,966 euros for prevention, support and research;

while AERCAMAR, Association of renal patients of the Mar Menor has received 2,546 euros for the project "Patient expert active in renal patients of San Pedro del Pinatar".

The Local Delegation of the Red Cross will continue to expand the orthopedic bank for the loan of orthopedic material for convalescent or people with specific needs with a grant of 4,725 euros and ASENFIFA, Association of patients and relatives of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, has received 5,664 euros for continue with the adapted physiotherapy program in marine spa.
