San Pedro del Pinatar approves a plan of social, economic and fiscal measures in the face of the coronavirus crisis (25/03/2020)

The City Council will discount the IBI to businesses and companies that have suspended their activity during the State of Alarm, the fee for installation in the weekly market and other taxes such as water supply and garbage collection, whose bonus will be quarterly, and will implement complementary measures such as the postponement of the fiscal calendar of other taxes and the suspension of collection of rates for home help, telecare, day center, fords, etc.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar has announced a plan of social, economic and fiscal measures that have as a priority objective to give a quick and effective response to the residents of the town, offering them security and mitigating the economic and social consequences of the pandemic. of the coronavirus can provoke them.

For this, the mayor has explained that the first measures adopted by the City Council have been aimed at guaranteeing compliance with the measures decreed in the State of Alarm, monitoring the closure of shops and businesses, the limitation of travel and the general confinement of the population.

In addition, the City Council has intensified the cleaning and disinfection work throughout the municipality and has addressed social measures from the outset to attend to the most vulnerable families in this situation.

For this, a service for isolated persons was enabled by reason of the COVID19, attending to their basic needs from the Emergency service.

The Home Help service has also been extended for the elderly and dependents without dependents, in tasks such as the purchase of basic products, the acquisition of medications, etc.

The Social Services are streamlining the applications for aid that are presented, with special attention to those with minors involved and those generated by the COVID-19 crisis, have managed vouchers redeemable for food to the minor beneficiaries of the dining room scholarship and the City Council will provide more budget credit to be able to attend to all the people of Pinar del Río who need to cover basic needs.

In addition, telephone attention and follow-up is provided to people with special vulnerability and a free psychological attention service has been provided.

As for the economic area, the application of the fiscal calendar for those municipal taxes managed by the Tax Agency of the Region of Murcia, such as Vehicle Tax (IVTM), Real Estate Tax (IBI) and Tax, has been suspended. on Economic Activities (IAE), setting a new collection period after the Alarm State.

As for the taxes managed by the City Council, the approval of standards and the collection of those corresponding to home help services, telecare, day centers, fords, cemeteries or weekly market are suspended during this period.

In addition, bonuses will be established for those economic activities that prove their suspension as a consequence of the State of Alarm, for a quarterly period, for taxes for water and sewerage supply, and garbage collection.

The proportional part of this period will also be discounted at the rates of the weekly market, the Popular University and for the use of sports facilities.

The City Council will also subsidize this period to the contracts for the exploitation of seasonal services, the concession of administrative services and others that have seen their activity suspended, such as the concessions for municipal buildings, kiosks, fair, Lo Pagán market, among others.

Likewise, the City Council will discount the Real Estate Tax (IBI) fee to those businesses or companies affected by the suspension of their activity, proportionally to the closing time of the same, conditioned to the maintenance of at least 75 percent of the average of the workforce during 2020.

The mayor added that measures to boost the affected sectors are also being studied, as well as specific social coverage plans, which will be launched after the state of alarm.

Visitación Martínez has stressed that these measures represent a great economic effort for the municipal coffers and a rethinking of the municipal budget for the year 2020, but that they are absolutely necessary and essential to give the residents of San Pedro del Pinatar the support they need before this serious situation.
