[The 2021 Budget allocates more than 1.5 million municipal resources to combat Covid-19 (17/12/2020)

The budget project of the San Pedro del Pinatar City Council includes 675,000 euros in measures and additional aid for the affected sectors and economic stimulus policies.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitaci n Mart nez, has highlighted the main aspects included in the municipal budget for fiscal year 2021, which stands at more than 26 million euros and which has been approved this morning by the plenary session of the Corporation.

Visitaci n Mart nez, has indicated that these are responsible budgets, based on prudence and containment, which guarantee stability and financial sustainability, while enabling a social and economic improvement of San Pedro del Pinatar and its neighbors.

Thus, with the current socio-economic context, generated by the pandemic, it is sought to provide a social cushion; and protect the most vulnerable, while guaranteeing public services and accelerating the recovery of the business and productive fabric.

In Social Services that are a gateway for citizens to benefits of a social, economic and service nature to cover basic needs, an additional credit of € 300,000 is contemplated, to which must be added the provision of a credit of € 300,000 in the Department of Health, and € 100,000 in the Department of Civil Protection for the attention of necessary expenses that are determined during the execution of the year on the occasion of Covid 19.

In addition, the Government points out other premises of action such as promoting and supporting the business and productive fabric of the municipality, developing promotion policies and economic stimulus, for the maintenance and creation of employment in the line of the "Let's Reactivate San Pedro Plan" for which 675,000 euros is allocated.

These endowments have a global endowment of € 1,500,051.01 The 100-euro help line for families with children from 0 to 3 years is also expanded.

For yet another year, the Budget that is presented to the Plenary meets the objectives of budget balance and stability and maintains the line of work aimed at compliance in the payment terms to suppliers, the generalized freezing of rates and taxes and the remuneration and compensation received by all elected positions, as well as the reduction of the tax rate of the IBI to continue counteracting the effects of the last cadastral review.

In the investment chapter for 2021 it amounts to € 2,096,000.

The most relevant actions that are maintained are those related to the improvement of the new walks on the Mar Menor coastline, the project of the new Social and Cultural Center, as well as sanitation and rainwater infrastructures and incorporation a credit of € 100,000, as a result of the participatory process for improvements in the homes of the pensioners of San Pedro and Lo Pagan.

The mayor assured that these are budgets that are conditioned by the current health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, therefore, austerity and control of public spending are the pillars of the 2021 budget, a aim to allocate part of the resources of this municipality to meet the social and economic needs of the neighbors.
