Viva la Virgen del Carmen! (19/07/2010)

The feast of the Virgen del Carmen is celebrated with devotion in San Pedro del Pinatar from 1792, since then the families of fishermen involved in land and sea procession in honor of his patron.

This year, with a blazing sun, the Star of the Sea was punctual to his appointment with the thousands of people who come to celebrate the July 16 the town marmenorense.

From early morning, the picture came out of the church of St. Peter the Apostle, and after a Mass in the Plaza of the Constitution, the fishermen wore shoulder towards Lo Pagan.

Among Salve Marinera, offerings of flowers and cheers for the Virgin beautiful, height reached the fish market where they embarked on a pilgrimage sea accompanied by some fifty vessels decked who joined the minute's silence and a wreath in memory of the sailors and fishermen who did not arrive in port.

A landfall presided over a mass campaign in his honor at the Lonja de Lo Pagán and later, accompanied by locals and tourists, the Band and authorities, was taken in procession to the church that bears his name.

Well past midnight and after a shot of fireworks, the image made the same journey in reverse to go back to the Church of San Pedro to applause and a final fireworks.

Thus ended the actions of the Feast of the Virgen del Carmen, declared of Regional Tourist Interest since 1968, a party linked to the municipality, deeply rooted in tradition and is pending pinatarense be declared of National Tourist Interest.
