More than 60 major participants in the course of geological and mining heritage of the UPCT (22/11/2010)

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, José García, and Vice Chancellor for University Extension UPCT, Francisco Martínez, today closed the course included in the training of the People's University.

Similarly, Martinez stressed that the aim of these courses is to entertain and disseminate scientific and historical content in an interesting and affordable.

The course, 10 teaching hours, has been divided into four modules, through which is introduced to students in geology and mineralogy and the origins of the region and the area of Cartagena.

Students also known mineral deposits in the region, the history of mining in the southeastern Spanish, geological and mining heritage of the Sierra de Cartagena and the tourist exploitation of these places.

To close the course, the students last week a visit to the Mining Park of La Union, where they could enter the mine Groups Vincent and apply the acquired knowledge in geology and mineralogy.
