The Guardian Police Unit participates in the X meeting of the National Network of Educating Cities (29/03/2011)

The project on civic education and volunteerism, developed in all schools in the county, will be the topic presented by the Police Unit Tutor Best Practices Panel at this meeting.

Special Police Unit Tutor of San Pedro del Pinatar part, from March 30 to April 1, at the Tenth Meeting of the National Network of Educating Cities (RECE) to be held in Alcalá de Guadaira (Sevilla), under the title "Education and Citizenship, an indispensable accomplice."

RECE has nearly 200 member cities, forming the territorial network with more members of the IAEC (International Association of Educating Cities.)

In this meeting, the Special Police Unit Tutor project presented as good practice the activity of this course in all secondary schools in the municipality, focused on volunteerism as an element of civic education.

During the first quarter, the Police Unit Tutor developed several talks on volunteering, in which members of organizations working in various areas, including the integration of the disabled, the environment or supporting the needy.

The objectives of these talks are to create links of solidarity, educating young people about the importance of volunteerism, promote a culture of social responsibility and promote values ​​such as tolerance, respect, equality and non discrimination.

In the evaluation of this activity by the Police Unit Tutor, is reflected the satisfaction of the associations, which were able to convey the essence of volunteer work, and good acceptance by students, as they have expanded some of the content of cross-cutting areas that are discussed from tutoring.

For its part, the Police Unit Tutor, believes that fulfilled the main goal of this activity, which was to raise awareness and sensitize children and youth of the municipality in the voluntary sector, highlighting the qualities needed to be voluntary, as responsibility altruism, respect, solidarity and teamwork and improved quality of life.

Tutor Police Unit has addressed this issue in conjunction with the celebration, in 2011 the European Year on Volunteering.

The IAEC, in which San Pedro del Pinatar is built for 4 years, born in 1990 with the aim of creating a network of cities to work on projects and activities that improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, from their involvement active in the use and development of the city itself and in accordance with the approved letter of Educating Cities.
