A total of nine stores in the municipality adhere to the project "Responsible Bars" (24/08/2012)

The Biodiversity Foundation, the Ministry of Environment, promotes this initiative that includes a set of good environmental practices and a contest to reward the best initiatives to enhance coastal protection

The Department of Tourism announced today that a total of nine bars of the municipality have joined the project "Responsible Bars" that the Biodiversity Foundation has launched for the first time this year to improve space management and coastal resources.

This project includes a set of good practices that agree to comply with bars and a contest to reward environmental initiatives aimed at improving the relationship with the environment and sustainability on the coast.

Among other points, with adherence to the set of good practices chiringuitos undertake to place an information and awareness of the natural resources of the coast, placing recycling containers, develop cleaning and conservation of the environment, minimize consumption energy and act as a catalyst in the defense of the shoreline protection domain.

For now, this code of practice and have added more than 200 bars across to the Spanish coast, of which nine are from San Javier.

As for "Bars Responsible Awards", aim to recognize the work of the beach establishments adhere to the Ten Commandments, and highlight environmental initiatives that promote forward to improve it.

Until 15 September, those food and drink dispensers beach obtaining the distinctive "Head Snack" may participate in the awards in either of two categories: "Initiatives Developed" and "Ideas" for actions they have already done or will be making towards sustainability.

The prize of the awards totaling 24,000 euros, divided into a maximum of three awards per category: a first prize of 6,000 euros, a second prize of 4,000 Euros and third prize (2,000 euros).

The Councillor for Tourism of the City of San Javier, Antonio Garcia, stressed the importance of this project, as it affects both the preservation and enhancement of the coast, and in improving the quality of tourism services in the municipality .

Therefore, from the council held a working meeting with industry representatives to promote this initiative and provide information and technical support needed to join the project.

Garcia stressed the host of the project among the entrepreneurs, as most of the town bars were processed and their adherence to set of good practices.

Thus, this project involved the bars in the pine forest and the Tambalillo, beach La Puntica; Bitakora, Campoamor, Veracruz and Dew, Villananitos; Kiko, on the beach of La Mota, Callisto, in El Mojon, and El Puerto, Demolished Torre.
