Unimar taught in San Pedro del Pinatar a course on tackling child neglect situations (20/06/2013)

The Social Services Center will host from 23 to July 26 during "Interdisciplinary Approach to child neglect situations. Prevention, detection and intervention", which is part of the training offered by the Universidad Internacional del Mar.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Development and Training, University of Murcia, Fernando Martín Rubio, today presented the curos "interdisciplinary approach to child abuse and neglect situations. Prevention, detection and intervention" by the co-director of the course, Andrew Luis Haro.

Visitation Martinez stressed the close cooperation of the International University of the Sea (UNIMAR) with the city of San Pedro del Pinatar, a city that has hosted for more than a decade many different courses related to the sea, and thalassotherapy, among other topics.

The mayor noted that this year has focused on the social, with the development of this course you will address child neglect situations and how to engage with them.

Fernando Martin has appreciated the efforts of the City to continue to be home to the University of the Sea upon the 30th anniversary of this offering summer training.

It also noted that this year the training of UNIMAR covers 99 courses, 55 taught at the University of Murcia, 39 from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, and 5 joint projects.

Meanwhile, Andres Luis Haro, said that the motivation of the course to be taught at San Pedro del Pinatar to raise awareness of the problem of child abuse and neglect and to combine the academic perspective of the University of Murcia and intervention tools are carried out from the region.

Course Co-director explained that, through these papers, will be addressed from the detection of risk situations to how to work with children in distress.

The course, which already has more than 20 registered and will last for 25 hours, will be held on Tuesday, July 23, from 09:00 am to Friday, July 26 in downtown San Pedro Social Services Javier, and is intended to both university students, as professionals and anyone concerned with this problem.
