The City publishes an information on drug prevention programs (25/09/2013)

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez and the Councillor for Social Policy, Francisca Pelegrin, today presented the Municipal Plan II guide drug prevention for 2012-2015.

Visitation Martinez explained that this guide is a tool for the dissemination of the various programs and actions taken by the council as part of this plan, to reduce and modify risk and the negative influence of drugs, and prevent young people from starting in the consumption of them.

It also indicated that the development of the plan, counseling service and family programs and support of the Department of Social Services have worked together with social partners and schools in the municipality, such as schools, technical youth and sports, local police, or health centers, among others, to address the problem from a global perspective.

The result of this work has been the Prevention Plan, in force since 2012, and which includes three areas of intervention, differentiated in the guide, such as the community, the school and family.

So, at the community level actions are established to promote healthy lifestyles in all areas through information campaigns, inspection and monitoring program for compliance with the Act on the prohibition of selling alcohol to minors in shops of municipality, a program to promote alternative leisure time led to the child population of San Pedro del Pinatar, and briefings on drug consumption in older people.

The school environment, detailed in the guide, including several campaigns in primary schools, secondary school and no mandatory obligation.

As more specific discussions about the risks posed by the drug.

A third line deals with the family and school training sessions aimed at parents of teen parents, an information service, counseling and family counseling, youth mediation service for young people who are getting started in consumption, and prevention workshops in sectors particularly vulnerable families at risk of social exclusion or at risk for, and immigrant families.

The guide summarizes and describes each of the action areas and includes some tips for preventing drug use that can be put into practice in the home.

The social work La Caixa and Iberdrola have collaborated in the publication of this guide, which will be distributed in the center of Social Services and other municipal agencies as well as schools, colleges and health centers, in order to make it accessible to all pinatarenses.
