The Department of Employment and Training, collaborates with the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and the local agricultural company Camposeven in developing a project on agricultural innovation

The research group Planning and Sustainable Management of rural / local development, GESPLAN, UPM develops a framework program of the European Union to address the innovation and modernization of agriculture in Spain, covering the food industry in the region as well as the local company Camposeven.

The City of San Pedro del Pinatar, through the Department of Employment and Training, has worked with GESPLAN in fieldwork during April researchers have made in the region, bringing statistical data and other information requested on the sector in the municipality.

During this period, researchers have also worked with institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Amopa, and the board of Organic Farming, and have conducted interviews with the region producing companies in the industry as references Camposeven, Agromediterránea, Agromark, SAT San Cayetano etc..

This European project, called "Rethinking the Links Between farm modernization, rural development and resilience in a world of finite resources and increase increasing Demands" has, inter alia, facilitate the sharing of experiences and foster new international relations at European level and agribusiness horticultural, of particular importance in the region.

The project runs for three years and will seek new responses from civil society to the modernization of agriculture in the context of rural development, developing best practices and recommendations to be submitted to the European Commission and national governments, regional and local.

One case study is developed with the company pinatarense Camposeven, the subproject entitled "Innovation and social learning in intensive vegetable production in the Murcia region."
