The Ministry continues to work in the Dump 0 Mar Menor plan with the construction of a storm tank in San Pedro del Pinatar (21/09/2015)

The construction of a storm tank at Jose Luis de los Rios Martinez Park in San Pedro del Pinatar, prevent flooding in the streets and buildings of the town when heavy rainfall events occur.

Also, minimize pollution of the waters of the Mar Menor, as the storm tank stored rain water and thus prevent significant runoff that occurs when rainfall is recorded by the insufficient capacity of the sewage of San Pedro del Pinatar .

The Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) has published the notice of works that promotes the Directorate General of Water and involve an investment of 2.3 million euros, co-financed by the ERDF of the European Union, with a lead time of eight months.

This infrastructure is part of Landfill 0 Mar Menor plan, which envisages the construction of storm tanks in different locations to prevent the accidental discharge of wastewater into the Mar Menor caused by the rains.

At present the works are running tanks storm Lo Pagan, Los Alcazares, Los Urrutias and the southern area of ​​Santiago de la Ribera, work which is scheduled for this 2015.

In addition, the realization of additional similar actions in Santiago de la Ribera, Los Alcázares, Los Nietos, Mar de Cristal, Playa Honda and La Manga, next year is contemplated.

Works tank storms San Pedro del Pinatar involve the construction of a main collector of 455 meters long with a diameter of between 600 and 800 mm which ends in a chest, where it joins the existing general collector 1000mm diameter.

From this casket union of both collectors get the final stretch of the pipeline of 238 meters with 1,200 mm in diameter.

The execution of works of a secondary collector, 230 meters long and 500 mm in diameter, which will collect the waters south of the storm tank is also planned.

The two collectors, primary and secondary, I meet in the storm tank, which is reinforced concrete, designed with walls-screen, rectangular of 39.4 meters by 22.1 meters and 5.5 meters deep, covered with reinforced concrete slab.

On the east wall of the tank it is designed spillway water outlet, which only work when the storm exceeded forecasts tank filling.

The project also includes the necessary electrical installations, scuppers surface water catchment and gardening and urbanization of the plot and the replacement of all the services concerned.
